This is part of the pre-summit day for the 11th Annual National Tribal Public Health Summit. American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities are expected to see an increase in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) in the next few decades due, in part, to an increased life span of Native Americans. While a larger elder population is a strength for communities, it does mean that more attention and action is needed for reducing the risk for ADRD, supporting those diagnosed, and assisting caregivers.
