The National Council of Clinical Directors (NCCD) exists to support those clinical leaders who have designated authority to manage medical staff and other LIP (licensed independent practitioner) activities at tribal, federal and urban healthcare facilities. While such individuals are traditionally designated as �Clinical Directors�, the NCCD recognizes that other titles such as Chief Medical Officer and Chief of Staff may apply. Additionally, the NCCD recognizes that the background of individuals in these leadership positions may vary and include not only allopathic and osteopathic physicians, but advanced practice nurses, physicians� assistants, dentists, and other health professionals. Regardless of specific title or degree, the NCCD welcomes and supports any clinical leader who shares these critical program responsibilities
